My name is Reaksmey. I am 12 years old, and I have two younger sisters. My parents are farmers. They grow eggplants and morning glory. My family does not have enough money to support my education, so I come to Kulen Outreach.
Before I came here, I studied for one year at the Kulen Outreach Learning Center. Every day, I rode my bike to school, but sometimes the wheel broke, and I had to walk for about one hour and thirty minutes to get there. Some days, we did not have enough food. My mom cooked the vegetables we grew, and sometimes we only ate rice with salt. In the future, I want to be a Khmer teacher at Popel Primary School. I want to help my community. I really miss my younger sisters and my mother the most. But I know that time will show me the way. I must study hard to achieve my dream. One day, I will return to my family, and I want to make them proud of me.
